One Bad Coffee Bean Can Spoil Your Morning!

Did you know human taste is so discriminatory that we can taste the off taste from one bad coffee bean in a cup of coffee? So what is the remedy? At Wheelin Pete’s Green Coffee not only do we buy premium specialty coffee but we hand sort through each pound we sell. But once you get those beans you should do the following:

  1. Hand sort green coffee beans before roasting to eliminate bad beans or small pebbles we may have missed.
  2. Hand sort again after roasting to remove any burned beans or beans that may have been stuck in your roaster from a previous cycle.
  3. Keep all of your equipment clean to avoid burned or rancid coffee oils from transferring to fresh beans or coffee. This includes your roaster, storage containers, coffee grinder and brewing equipment.

  1. Victor,

thank you for your question. We don’t check the beans with a fluorescent light but Guatemala Antigua beans do have a slight luminescence that may seems to glow under a fluorescent light. We will have to give it a try and see. Perhaps you have bought a Guatemala blend with some Guatemala Antigua mixed in. Hard to know. We would be happy to have you as a new customer. We are known for our exceptional specific origins. We sell a few specialty blends but they are made from these same origins. We never blend to try to cure defects. Each of our specific origins is exceptional on its own or as part of a blend.

    Happy Roasting!
